International Race Season Review

Niki spent a total of four months abroad in 2003 testing her metal at the ultimate level in North America and Europe. Niki contested select Cross Country Mountain Bike events from the NORBA Series (US National), World Cup Series and World Championships.

Competition at this level is a world away from what Niki cut her teeth on here in Australia, and with no international ranking in Cross Country behind her Niki generally started from the last row of the starting grid. In fields of up to 90+ riders, Niki consistently placed in the top 30 at NORBA events and top 50 of World Cup events, finishing the season with a 48th place at the World Championships.

In light of Niki's first real Cross Country race being in November 2002, Niki is now aware of what it takes to compete at this level and is now back home in Australia rested and back on the bike focused for an even stronger 2004 season.
